Menopause leads to large declines in women’s probability of employment and increases the probability of a woman receiving social security benefits. Hormone replacement therapy appears to mitigate some of the costs of menopause, but access to therapy significantly differs by race and education, underscoring the need to expand menopause-related medical care to reduce labour market gaps.",
